I've read all of her stuff too. She's brilliant. You're right, you do feel totally involved with the characters. I feel that I know small town Ireland so well, despite never having been there!

Jo, I LOVE Maeve Binchy., have read all her books since I was a kid. Love and admire the way she layers stories, and gives all her characters a voice. Wonder why there is not more of her stuff on TV. It's made for BBC drama strand surely? :-)

I've just started to reading it. It reads like it is completely set up for film, with each short chapter simply a pause between screen shots. At the moment I'm enjoying its 'lite' style. This follows having read Dennis Kennedy's 'The Pursuit of Happiness' which was an emotional rollercoaster to read for me and have Maeve Binchy's 'Heart & Soul' next in the wings ...

Has anyone started to read conspiracy theorising Dan Brown's, The Lost Symbol?

Yes, I did one of their courses last year - it was great. I'll check their site.
Cheers!

Can anyone recommend a good writing group in the East London area?

I love Maya! But do you think we have a British equivalent? Andrea Levy is probably one of the most prolific, and I love her work. Anyone else?

Too many to mention! But some to speak of (for me) are the stalwart writers in the area of feminism. Maya Angelou and her contribution to the uplifting of women, her enlightening women about the importance of the knowledge of self and the beautiful power of female sexuality and womanhood.
